Nevis
Considered to be a sister island of St.Kitt's, Nevis is a small, volcanic island. Air access to the island is through Anguilla or St. Kitts. Nevis is not a crowded island and it has managed to remain unspoiled thus far. The island has secluded beaches and a long, main beach with beach-bars scattered all over. It has a typically West Indian air. Nevis offers good hotels and villas, nice restaurants, good water sports, hiking, biking and golfing facilities.
Nevis is 6 miles in length and 8 miles in width. It has a massive volcanic cone, called the Nevis Peak. The view from the higher slopes of the peak is breathtaking. The island, politically, is a part of St. Kitts but quite different in character: traditionally West Indian.
This is an ideal place for relaxation. Walk on the beautiful beaches, go to the bars and have real Caribbean “rum-punch”, walk on the roads flanked by rainforests, visit the churches and look at the bridges, and do some wonderful sightseeing of natural beauty. All to be done in a calm, unhurried manner.
Accommodations in Nevis
The island consists of several hotels, and the “plantation-style” hotels will certainly capture the imagination. They are located among tropical gardens and have a distinctive Caribbean ambience, not to be easily found elsewhere. More recently, many villas have been built, some of which have copied the “plantation-style” architecture.
