Jost Van Dyke
Jost Van Dyke , four miles long, is truly the "barefoot" island known by travelers around the world for its casual lifestyle , protected anchorages, fine beaches and beachfront restaurants and bars.
A main street that's a beach , the Stress Free Bar, a harbor known for its Lobster feasts , a bypass road that's just a short-stroll , the Soggy Dollar bar named for a patron who swam ashore and home of the Painkiller drink-- this is the life that defines laid back!
A favorite destination of yachties , Jost Van Dyke hosts the famous Foxy's New Year's parties that make one giant raft-up of Great Harbor .
A series of small islands , Sandy Cay, Green Cay & Sandy Spit, Diamond Cay and Little Jost off Jost Van Dyke's east end, offer the perfect setting for a tropical isle--spectacular beaches, day anchoring over sandy ground and snorkeling in the shallow reefs.
Accommodations:
Jost Van Dyke isn't a big place. So there are no Hyatts, Hiltons etc. This is a little more like being ship wrecked then being pampered. But, that's the style that most people crave when they visit the Caribbean - and Jost delivers.
Most accommodations on the island come with kitchens because they are actually privately owned condos. Several of the small hotels receive rave reviews from travelers, and wherever you stay, it's just a short walk to restaurants and lively bars.
