Dominica
Located between Guadeloupe and Martinique, the island's official name is the Commonwealth of Dominica, and it has the second largest boiling lake of its kind in the world. The site is found in Morne Trois Pitons National Park and has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island of 289.5 square miles is sparsely populated with around 70,000 people, and a significant portion of the population lives around the capital city, Roseau. The indigenous people of Dominica are known as the Kalinago. Dominica has just a few white sand beaches in the northeast, but mostly beautiful gray volcanic sand beaches on the northern western coast. The island boasts its fauna. The nation is ideal for scuba diving, mountain hiking and rainforest trails. Dominica's mountains soar to almost 5,000 feet, thereby yielding a thriving rainforest that is comprised of 1,200 plant species. The island has many waterfalls and natural streams. It also houses many rare orchids and colorful birds. It is an ideal place for Nature-oriented visitors as there are many activities available due to the bio diversity.

The most popular hiker's routes are to Victoria Falls and Middleham Falls. Non-hikers can ride the Rainforest Aerial Tram, which offers a memorable journey through the treetop canopy. Travelers can also participate in Mountain biking, horse riding and jungle safaris. Many species of whales and dolphins are found in Dominica's waters during winter seasons making it a hot spot for adventurous tourists. Tours of the rum distillery and the Rosalie slave plantation estate are popular tourist destinations. The World Creole Music Festival takes place in October. The island's carnival , features calypso, Queen show, jump-ups and costume parade and takes place normally in the months of February or March of each year.
Dominica has two airports, and it is well connected through ferries to all the nearby destinations. The official language of the nation is English and it offers a variety of nightlife activities. The climate is extremely pleasant in winters and in summer the temperature varies between 75 & 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Shooting of the blockbuster film, Pirates of the Caribbean, was done on this picturesque island.
