Anegada
Anegada is the only coral island in the British Virgin Island chain. The other islands are volcanic in nature. The island of Anegada lies 13 miles north of Virgin Gorda. Anegada was named by the Spanish and its name means "Drowned Land". Anegada has a number of fine white sandy beaches and is popular with tourist s and visiting yachts. The island is protected by the Horseshoe Reef and has a number of beautiful beaches , including Flash of Beauty, Bones Bright and Cow Wreck Beach. Anegada is a paradise for divers.
Anegada is one of those amazing "forgotten" spots here on earth. Anegada has been enhanced with colorful formations of exotic undersea plants and animal life.

Anegada, comprised entirely of coral and limestone and known for its spectacular sea life and gargantuan lobsters, is only about 11 miles long and just 28 feet above sea level at its highest point . Sailing to Anegada can be tricky because the small island is “guarded” by the famous Horseshoe Reef. The reef, at eighteen miles long, is one of the world's largest coral reefs. There have been more than 300 known wrecks there over the years. The interior of the island has many saltwater ponds, mangrove swamps and mud flaps , which are home to many exotic birds. There are also natural fresh water springs.
